Pointcounter is both a puzzle game and an interactive music composition. The player moves one piece of their choice at a time to an empty space on the spiral. The goal is to visit every space on the spiral exactly once (a space that has already been occupied is off limits for the rest of the game) while collecting as few points as possible. If the player comes to a point where there are no legal moves but empty spaces still remain then it is game over.

How the pieces move:  The game begins with two black and two white pieces distributed randomly along the spiral. The black pieces may only be moved to spaces whose sectors are 3, 4,  or 5 sectors from the sectors of each of the other three pieces. The white pieces may only be moved to spaces whose sectors are 1, 2, or 6 sectors from each of the other three pieces. Spaces 1 and 13 are on the same sector. The same goes for 2 and 14, 3 and 15, etc.

Scoring: Points are given depending on the number of spaces the piece moves. One space  = one point, two spaces = two points, etc. There is no limit to how many spaces a piece may move, but large leaps result in a lot of points, so the player should try to avoid them as much as possible. Spaces (used for counting points) and sectors (used for determining permissable intervals) should not be confused with each other.

The resulting sound: The spiral represents two octaves of the twelve  tone equal tempered chromatic scale. The pieces play the tone of the space they occupy. Because of the rules, black pieces  are always moved to a tone that makes consonant intervals with all of the other three pieces (although the total chord may remain dissonant) and white piece moves always generate dissonant intervals with all of the other three pieces.
